**Red Hat is no longer supporting Red Hat versions 7.0 and below with new patches or documentation.

**Red Hat will end support and online documentation for 7.1 through 8.0 on December 31, 2003. No new patches will be available after this date.

THROUGH V8.0?? Something sounds fishy to me. Anybody else affected. I hate migration. smileys/smiley7.gif

Yup. And they stop supporting RH9 in April!!!

Just wait until the next kernel exploit, or even Apache, PHP, SSH etc. All of those unpatched Red Hat boxes are going to bring the net down to a crawl like sql slammer.

Not sure where you have your servers, but I did my own andspent the weekend doing remote upgrades from RH9 to Debian.Let me tell you, there is nothing more scary then sending a reboot and waiting (praying) for the box to come back online. The longest 2 minutes EVER!! All but 1 came back up.

Yeah I've got two dedicated redhat servers, one running ensim and one plain.

Third parties will be stepping up and providing support if you want to keep running 7.x or 8.x.

Or you'll be forced to upgrade to 9.x if you don't like the idea of third party support.

My plan is to wait until the last possible minute after everybody else has migrated and found all the problems upgrading. For this I will probably also oursource the job to a specialist who manages 100's of companies serves over at EV1servers. I could do it myself but why bother when I can get a real pro who has done it 100 time before take care of it for me for a couple hundred dollars.
