No one is going after you unless you are selling prescription medication online to customers without a prescription written by a doctor who has physically examined them.

No one is going after any of you. You all just operate websites that bring a visitor the possibility of connecting with another group of people. You are not doctors who write prescriptions for controlled substances without any real doctor-patient relationship. You are not pharmacies do not follow legal guidelines on dispensing controlled substances. You are not even the affiliate company who organizes all of the above. You merely maintain websites that redirect people to your affiliate company who in turn, redirects people to the doctors and pharmacies.
The DEA gave us a fairly clear indication of what is acceptable. If you take their not-very-subtle hint, you will be fine. They are not looking to screw you for what you did before they told you; as long as you follow their new advice, you will be fine. They said not to sell controlled substances, so now is the time to stop. That's it.
The pharmacies and doctors assume the most risk, then the affiliate company, and after that, the tons of website owners who have links to the affiliate company. I don't even think the affiliate companies themselves are in trouble if they modify their behavior.
There was a site about a year and a half ago, medsworldwide.com or something. The doctor who ran it got fined and lost his DEA registration for a period of time. He took a competency test, and they let him resume prescribing controlled substances, as long as it was to local patients. No one went to jail, everyone was cooperative with the DEA, and this site was giving out hydrocodone with a 30 second phone consultation, no records. If they didn't go to jail, I don't think you are for something you already did, if you stop. If you already did it, there is nothing you can do about it anyway! Why worry about it then, do you really think the DEA is looking to hassle the smallest people in this food chain for cooperating?
They know what we did, and this is why the gave the new guidelines. They are not going to fine/arrest/bust every single person who has eversigned upwith any affiliate company who ever owned one single site that sold one single order of phentermine.
I know hindsight is 20/20, but did you think the proverbial s*it would never hit the fan? By letting us keep on selling the other drugs, the DEA is letting some of that s*it bounce off the fan and remain as s*it, which I think is kind of nice.
I'm going to cut out the controlled drugs but I'm not going to just get out of the game altogether. I understand a sizable chunk of income is from the controlled drugs, but there is still money to be made, though there will be more competition and less profit, so what? If virtually all of your income was from the controlled drugs, then I understand wanting to sell your sites and get out, in effect protecting yourself financially and I guess legally since I really don't know the specifics of what will happen- maybe the people getting out are actually making a smart legal move, I have no idea, this is just my take on the situation, but I don't think you have to worry about jail. I hope that helps some people chill with all this, I know it is nerve-racking.

Good point, Dave. It is ultimately the responsibility of the prescribing pharmacy and physician. That's all. Period. I suppose the possibility exists that someone would bring suit and include one of us OPs, but I can't see OP affiliates having any liability in this case. All we are is an advertising portal when you get right down to it.

Good post!
I see it as anyone who is profiting from the industrycould be liable. I have removed all the controlledmedsfrom my sites and shut a few down that where dedicated to controlled meds. I'm playing it safe. You never know.
