It's been like 2 weeks since my last stupid post in the Search Engine forum, so ... smileys/smiley4.gif
I don't understand this forward/mask domain name thingy smileys/smiley5.gif
I have 1 hosted site that I use. I have another hosted site that I play with. I have 4 other domain names that have been parked at godaddy for the last 9 months. I know ... why didn't I do something 9 months ago smileys/smiley17.gif Anyways ... what does this mean? I will copy and paste.

<TD>QUESTION: What is masking and how do I set it up for my domain?</TD>

ANSWER: Masking works with domain name forwarding. Forwarding redirects all Web traffic for a domain to a specific URL. When someone types your-domain-name.com into a browser, our system will automatically forward or redirect them to your selected destination URL. Forwarding with Masking prevents visitors from knowing that they have been redirected by securing that your domain name remains in the visitor's browser's address bar when he/she is being redirected, thus concealing the actual destination address. The Forwarding with Masking option further enables users to add a title, plus description and keywords Meta tag data to the masked site. Title and Meta tag information is important to a Web site's search engine ranking, but does not influence how a Web site is being displayed.

<TD>QUESTION: What does it mean to mask Meta tags?</TD>
<TD class=Text align=right></TD></TR></T></TABLE>
ANSWER: Though invisible to end users, title and Meta tags contain vital Web page information, including keywords and page description. The title and Meta tag content is crucial to search-engine positioning, as many search engines incorporate that content Meta data into their ranking algorithms. Meta tags do not affect how a page is displayed. Usually, forwarded domains do not contain Meta data. However, the Forward with Masking option enables you to apply title and Meta data to a forwarded and masked domain.
Is it a good idea to do this? The domains are just parked and i'm not going to renew them3 months from now. I don't really care about the URL being invisible. What I want to know is, can these parked domains be used as a way to get traffic to one of my hosted sites? I read at searchengineworld (I think that was it) that you should link the masked domain to a sub directory of the hosted site. What if you have the same page in another directory? Should the pages be different?
2 weeks ago I tried this. I don't think i did it right smileys/smiley19.gif All 4 of the parked domains showed up on google as indexed. I forwarded/masked one
