which converts better. a website your develope with affilaite links or one of their premade sites?

i ran a pay per click campain just ended now with one of the premade sites & i didn't get NOTHING. i sent them alittle over 150 hits & not a one customer.

i think if i had them going to one of my casino sites i would have gotten at least a player or two.

so i was just wondering which worked best for you. thanks.

I feel the custom site with your own custom order form would convert better. Conversions should also be higher if it can look as nice as some of the template sites though. Even if it converts better it doesn't mean you will have more sales though because of declines.

my own sites do better.

I've put up lots of template sites lately, none have done really well. I plan to replace them all with more original sites as I have time.

do comparison sites. you'll rank in the bux!

Custom site, definitely. A person going on Google to check out who's offering what for what price has probably seen that template or a similar variation several times, and not everyone is aware of how we're part of affiliate programs (read any drug messageboard, a lot of people think we are all separate companies), so they are looking for something unique that instills confidence. Another problem with the templates is that they tend to be too graphics-intensive and load too slowly on slow connections. If a buyer is site-hopping for the best price, but they're on a modem, they're not likely to wait for yours to load.

What I usually do is make the design myself, but use the template's drug information pages. It's really just a quick cut-and-paste thing since that will already have my links and the information; I just have to apply it to a Dreamweaver template.

Yep,

Like Dave I like to take the templates for what they are "templates" I take these sites, loose one or two of the graphics for load speed and my own content in the forum of search terms, headers and other page items. I also thinkit is important to replace the "image logo" with a nice graphic.

Sites need to look good to convert ;-)

I have used this method with my last projext and of right now it is converting very high.

This method also allows the webmaster to quitly add additional pages within a "pre-built" site for further seo traffic smileys/smiley2.gif

Some of the more recent sites that I have made have indexpage less than 14KB size, all external css and images combined. Landing pages that receive traffic from search engines have nothing on the except pricing table, shipping info (We don't ship to NV etc.), costs and a single lineabout US pharmacy and doctors. All drug info is on another page linked from landing page. I think drug info should be there on the sites but not on the sales page as most template sites tend to put that on. Customers mostly don't careabout our drug info as my drug info pages are rarely visited.

Such sites are converting so well that I'm planning to dump alltemplate sites innext 1-2 weeks.

I spend a week, easy, designing a new site and programming the backend. I usually shoot for an index page of < 15k combined and widget pages of < 10k combined (depending on the industry)

Sure, a week sounds long, but a tight and original site will continue to pay you back for many months.

Yeah, the"canaryyellow site"is making a killing and I don't think it looks nice. Not only that, but it doesn't usea brandedorder form (It uses TSS). smileys/smiley5.gif

I agree with skeeter. I think comparison sites are best for PPC unless you offer really low prices on your site. Comparison sites are a pain tomaintain but gives the buyer a quick glimpse of what pharmacies are offering.

Actually, I think this post kicks more ass. Dude this is brilliant. Hmmm.. now I think I've seen some of your sites. LOL smileys/smiley14.gif

I've been struggling with SEO on this prescription order pages to get the right amount of optimization to rank a little better. If I offer this info on a popup via the order pages, I think it'll rank a bit better.

Hmm, I'll stop here. This has so much potential!!! Not to mention, it'll be that much easier to launch more sites.

Now that I'm not worried about the So Cal fires sweeping my home, it's back to work!!

REDEX,

I think most people know my sites anyways. I see my content all over the place shamelessly borrowed by other affiliates too lazy to do their own work. smileys/smiley4.gif

Phalaris is right, those boring text sites that just jump in fromt of the modemer sells better than any bullsh*t graphic site, no matter how pretty. My ugly little 15k page sites sell circles around the others.

thanks for your replies. its helped me somewhat understand now that asking a question on any forum is kinda useless.

i appreciate the responses but some of you feel as though i was asking for the HOLY GRAIL or something. i was just interested in what type of site got the best conversions for you.

you can have all your secrets because i've been there already. just breaking into new territory & wanted a feel for how it was.

thanks for those that honestly answered my question. i looked around at some of the top listings & it seems you were right on the mark. thanks.
