So I'm sitting here with this perfectly good computer that isn't earning me the money it used to. Now I'm looking at other options to make it earn it's keep, one of which would be to go into an entirely different industry, warehouse my own products, and ship from here. I don't know jack about the actual checkout process. Let's say I use Paypal for my merchant processing. I still need shopping cart software, and my programming skills are extremely limited (if they exist at all). Anybody know of cheap software written for idiots? Or at least can anybody direct me to what I should be looking for or avoiding?

google OScommerce . Free shopping cart system. Similar but with commercial support is Xcart, and they can customize if you need.

Also you might want Joomla (CMS system) and add VirtualMArt (or virtue mart) to it.

Both have commercial and free templates, and within a few days you can click something together.

Most of them have paypal checkout, and some CC processors (not the ones that allow gaming or pharmacy, the normal ones).

Hope it helps
Also I can help with installation or programming PM me if interested.

We have built a full shopping cart and processor - stictly non op products. You can link your sites/products. We do whole transaction including drop ship for a small fee.
We currently sell items like natural health products, electronics, jewellery, fashion, DIY pest control, finance products, E Books, car hi fi, car performance products.

We are in the process of hopfully adding hundreds of international sites selling products.
We have built our own 2 tier publisher software to handle tracking and commissions.

Jesus, clive, where do you get the motivation? I can't get out of bed before noon.

I started out loving computers and the internet. I'd work 12,14,16 hours a day. Now, I can barely stand to turn on the monitor.

Has anyone else gone through a period of "God! I can't stand to look at my computer screen."

Sorry for the off topic.

Hi RxRob, LOL not off topic at all - good question.

Some people are happy working for 10 years at the 1 thing.
They do not have 10 years experience they have 1 years experience x 10.

You are obviously a person who needs a new challenge and are not happy with repeating 1 x 10.

My motivation comes from building a good healthy business and we are having fun creating new shops selling fashion items, household, auto, finance, E Books, Natural Health etc etc

There are a lot of good people here who are looking for the year 2 new experienceand can easily make a good living building online sales. We have some great ideas in good healthy legitimate business practice that we will will share over the next few months.

if you want a free one check oscommerce if not, xcart or litecommerce are both good, for many many more options you should go to a scripts pages like www.hotscripts.com or those.. hotscripts has 100's for you to check in their site.. try to make it in PHP, if you have the money is always better to have your shopping cart custom made, that way they programmer will be able to do exactly what you want, with the pre-made carts you always will have to give things up
