I received feedback from a potential forum sponsor today. It implies the forum has limited usefulness and may even be of negative value to an OP.
I am sharing an extract that highlights their point of view. The OP and any identifying details have been kept anoymous. But I am asking all members (for whom we hope the forum is of benefit and advancement) - to comment.
In this way we can all move forward or just put our efforts into something else.

I have reviewed your proposal for advertising and while I find it very reasonable, I do not think it would benefit us in many ways. We have been around for ...... years so most people will advertise with us based on our reputation.
We are not logged in on the forum to answer requests, even though I find most to be general bitching. There is one on there now asking has anyone heard from ........ and they cannot contact us, yet we have had the same customer service number for ....... years. .........................

While you may know many past affiliates, many of whom have left the industry, I recommend that you reconsider and look forward to continual rejuvenation.
In our experience we see a lot more positive activity than we do negative. It all comes down to managing communications effectively.
We welcome negative comments, as it flushes objections into the open and allows you to deal with them, particularly if unfounded, it wins you more support and builds your credibility. We believe it is a better strategy than the ostrich approach.
Also, Forum sponsors are promoted as taking an active part in building better standards of industry performance and as such should become the affiliates preferred programs.
