Product oriented affiliates

Does an affiliate have to be product oriented or should he have a good website and he can sell anything. I feel if an affiliate is product oriented he has a better idea of the product and thus marketing the product becomes easier, but can it be as easier to do affiliate marketing??

Well , it is not a thumb rule to be product oriented.
In my experience if you promote more kind of products you are actually attracting customers because you never know who is visiting the store and with what need.
So, I think if you add as many as possible products in your store you more likely to get good orders.

BUT

If you know what kind of customers you have and what they need , then going in for a product basis stuff is good you know.
