Probably when they release Beta or at the latest, corporate preview of their new PC OS circa 2005

LookSmart crawler has shown so little activity in the last few months that it was due to happen.

the Crawler Alert (http://www.crawler-alert.com) service used to report to me a notification about it's crawler every week and suddenly it happened only once a month.

Yes, LookSamrt said a while ago that they were going to a CPC model. I am ready for the big rise in Inktomi traffic with them possibly going live eventuallyaccross Yahoo and MSN search results.

the Crawler Alert (http://www.crawler-alert.com) service used to report to me a notification about it's crawler every week and suddenly it happened only once a month.

Q: What is the motivation for developing this service?

A: Well, that is an interesting story, we run a local SEO consulting firm (out of Israel), many of our customers kept begging us with questions on what crawler have visited them lately, when the new content on their site is going to be updated etc. (for the ones here who run a SEO firm, they know how it feels like.)
So we create a Crawler Alert service for them that notifies them by email each time a crawler crawled their site, we were happy since they got the notification directly and also from the fact that they kept realizing the value we provide them by submitting them to different search engines.
And then we decided that it could really be a useful tool for every web site owner or a web design / Search engine optimization (SEO) firm that works with customers, so we opened it for the general public for FREE!
Why free? Since we think that we get so much out of the free tools on the Internet that we should also contribute something back, so this is our small contribution. We encourage you to use this free service for you and your customers and send us any feedback that will improve the service.

Yeah, right!

I'm sure I'm missing something due to my lack of experience, but is there an easy way to explain how I maintain my page rank on MSN if LookSmart is going to be dropped?

I'm getting a great converision for my drug specific site listed 9th in MSN for only .15 a click.

If it's a detailed process, insight on just who or what orginization I contact would be helpful.smileys/smiley1.gif

Guys,

MSN dropping LookSmart doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get better placement on your Inktomi listings. It just means MSN has decided to take the money in house. They're probably just going to sell more featured listing sites themselves. We've already started sending our clients that route smileys/smiley2.gifWe've been expecting this for a while especially with the increase of Overture listings they are displaying. Whay share $.15 cents with LookSmart when you could share $3.00 with Overture or keep it all yourself?

My advice - buy more on Overture (you don't have to be in the number 1-3 spot as MSN is displaying 8 results) or get a featured listing with MSN (very expensive due to minumum buy restrictions, but there's a way around that smileys/smiley2.gif, but worth it).

Cheers, Mary smileys/smiley1.gif
